In this piece I used water colors, color pencils, and of course my handy dandy sharpie pen for stippling.

Concentration #11

Concentration #10: Abu Jan

This past Wednesday my Abu Jan (means beloved father in Urdu), Air Marshal Sultan Dutta, passed away. I wanted to dedicate this piece to him by using plants: palm trees, petunias, motia/ white jasmine from his garden, one of his pride and joys, to depict him.  In addition, I curved the palm trees to create a focus on my grandfather and the shape the palm trees took resembles the air force awards.  My grandfather was an incredible human being, and I hope to portray the lively presence he had. He is wearing white because according to Islam, white is a pure majestic color.

This concentration piece started out as a doodling, as something to test mixtures of colors.

And yes, I may have taken some of the photos in my bathrooms due to poor light quality.

I like color, and cherry blossom trees and sometimes stippling.

Concentration #7

For my seventh concentration piece I wanted to incorporate a fish-lens perception of a forest landscape with just black and white colors and stippling. 

Concentration #6

I call it tree lady, which is somewhat of a self portrait. Unlike the other concentration pieces, this piece has a mixture of lines, types of sharpies, and stippling. Also, the main focus is not a tree.
